ARINC Direct has announced its new certification capabilities to help flight departments for business aviation to obtain the required FAA/CAA approval to conduct worldwide air traffic control (ATC) data link communications. The FAA mandates that aircraft operators are properly equipped with and certified in the use of proper data transmission procedures.
“ARINC Direct is able to remove any confusion and ensure that all of the necessary documentation is in place so that the certification process will be as quick and painless as possible," said Bob Hanley, Vice President of ARINC Direct's Business Aviation division.
ARINC will collect the relevant aircraft and operator documents, including the type certificate or STC showing data link; the data link portion of the airplane flight manual; the maintenance procedures for data link equipment; the crew data link training, MEL procedures, and company operational procedures.
Every month, more than one million Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) messages are processed using ARINC's Future Air Navigation System (FANS) technology—the highest number of mission critical flight safety messages managed by any single provider.
