Singapore Service Centre Marks 20th Anniversary

Rockwell Collins’ Singapore Service Centre marked its 20th anniversary last weekend and employees, leaders and honoured guests joined in the celebrations.

David Tan, general manager of the Singapore Service Centre and managing director for South East Asia, served as the master of ceremonies for the event, which was held in Singapore on Saturday, Jan. 10. One of only 25 people on staff when the facility opened, Tan said he’s very proud to see how the business has grown and thrived.

“I remember standing inside the building in 1994, which at the time had nothing but bare floors,” said Tan. “We didn’t even have electricity hooked up.”

The service centre provides engineering and sales support to our Commercial and Government Systems business units throughout the Asia-Pacific region and now, 20 years after it first opened, the facility operates as headquarters for our Asia-Pacific operation, employing 125 people and servicing more than 1,500 avionics, communications and electronic products for commercial and government customers.

“This milestone is a proud moment for those in the Singapore Service Centre, as well as all of Rockwell Collins,” said Jim Walker vice president and managing director for International and Service Solutions in the Asia-Pacific region. “The success throughout the past two decades is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our employees.”

According to senior vice president for International and Service Solutions and one of the early leaders at the facility, Colin Mahoney, the Singapore Service Centre will continue to play an important role as our company extends its reach into the Asia-Pacific market.

“With the anticipated growth in the air transport industry and the potential for expansion in defence markets in the region, I feel really good about how our Singapore Service Centre is positioned going forward,” said Mr Mahoney.

Mahoney and Walker were among several people who had the opportunity to give their remarks at the anniversary celebration, along with Col. Trey Meeks, chief, Office of Defence Cooperation, U.S. Embassy of the Republic of Singapore.
